• You want to study computer business science?

Our students should bring an interest in working with computers and a curiosity in the exciting world of computer science with them. Our training provides you with the necessary skills required to be successful. “Do it yourself” is our motto here at the HTL Neufelden.
We know how important it is to combine theory and practice. To not only have knowledge but also be able to apply it practically, that is the difference!

  • What do you learn in the various subjects?

    Corporate governance and Business Law

You will learn here how companies are structured, how they work and of course a great deal about funding and finance. This will be of great assistance to you, should you decide to establish your own company and become your own boss.

As a computer scientist you will not only want to be able to write the best programmes but also know how to sell them! It will be to your advantage if you know something about sales and marketing. Business English is also a part of “corporate governance”.
Your future is in an international working environment and we want to make sure you are fully prepared for it.

    Production engineering

Here you’ll learn how a modern production line runs, how to plan projects, control the flow of materials, organise an efficient production and keep the finances in the company under control. We will naturally show you the importance of software in managing all these areas.

    Computer science and Information systems

Databases are a key subject for computer scientists. Irregardless of whether you are dealing with the web shop of an international concern or organising the data storage on your smartphone, we’ll show you how to manage the ever increasing amounts of data efficiently.

Within the framework of this subject we will also deal with “mobile computing” and afterwards you will be able to create your own programmes for your smartphone or tablet.

Have you ever heard of the term “SAP”? SAP is an information system that is used worldwide by many companies. We’ll show you what you can do with it.

    Software development and Project management

It is important that you learn how to develop professional software!

That is the reason why this subject is allocated the largest amount of hours in the syllabus.

You will learn all about programming languages and design methods here; at the same time we will show you how to develop software within a team.
In addition, we will also deal extensively with web programming.

    Networks and Embedded Systems

In the field of network technology, we teach you how to link computers, smartphones and tablets in a network and safeguard them by building firewalls and how to provide servers for the Internet.

Embedded Systems are computers that at first glance do not look like a computer. Perhaps you have heard of the “Raspberry Pi”? These embedded systems can now be found in use almost everywhere, from household appliances to cars.

We’ll show you where they can be used and how to write software for them.

    Automation engineering

Computer scientists not only understand how to write programmes but also how they can be used in technical applications, for example in a power plant or an industrial plant.

To ensure your software will run perfectly, we will teach you all about sensors and actuators, about machinery and equipment, how they function are how they are combined within the structure of an industrial facility.

    Laboratories, Workshops and Production engineering

Learning by doing” is now the order of the day here. You will have the opportunity to put into practice all the theory you have learnt in class and to finally create your own designs.

For example: how to build a microprocessor circuit, to assemble a computer, to produce your own components, provide a web server on the Internet, to programme an industrial control system, and much more besides.

    Syllabus timetable

  • Where do computer scientists work?

Many of our graduates are now employed in the Software and IT industry. They work in software development, in the field of web programming or are responsible for creating networks and support systems.

Quite a few of our graduates sought employment in the economic branch. They have found jobs in such diverse fields as: production planning and logistics, marketing, procurement and sales and in controlling and quality management.

The technical area is also becoming an increasingly interesting field. Already, some of our former students have developed highly successful software for industrial control and robotics. The European strategy “Industry 4.0” should see a promotion of the future networking of computer science and technology. We are already implementing this in the HTL Neufelden!
